The United States, Denmark and Greenland said they had reached an agreement expanding the US military presence on Greenland while barring adversaries from building bases there. President Trump described the pact as giving Washington “permanent control” over Greenland’s security. Greenland and Denmark answered that sovereignty is not being handed over, even as details of the text remain thin in public reporting. Officials said a formal signing is lined up on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly. The State Department framed the deal as blocking Chinese or Russian basing and sensitive investment, following months of tension over Trump’s Arctic ambitions.
